My art comes from eclectic sources. I have a foundation of functional pottery mixed with a Northern Californian sense of humor. Political, sexual, psychological and the human condition in general are the motivators of my work. Having lived and taught in China for two years and Japan for two years I bring an Asian esthetic to my functional pottery. My strong political beliefs and my constant challenging of people’s views of the world influence my sculptural pieces. I am an Assistant Professor at Indiana University Northwest.
My “Earth & Ice” series is the primary focus of my sculptural work. It has been evolving since 2008. The marbled pieces are the newest contributions to this series and are becoming more of an installation from the wall to the pedestal.
